The day will often be cloudy and rainy. In the morning, it will rain in the east, and the disturbance zone will spread to large parts of Austria as the day progresses. In the afternoon, the rainfall will be centered in the Salzkammergut. Localized thunderstorms are to be expected on Friday; these may be heavy. The snow line will drop to around 1500 meters above sea level in places in the west. Otherwise, it will be significantly higher. The wind will be weak to moderate, mainly from the west. Early temperatures are 6 to 13 degrees, while daytime highs are mostly only 11 to 18 degrees.

The forecast in detail
Vienna: During the day, dense clouds will predominate, and the sun will only appear briefly. Rain showers are expected throughout the day, but most will fall in the morning. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from the south to the west. Early temperatures are around 13 degrees, and daytime highs are barely above 18 degrees.

Lower Austria: It will be more relaxed and more changeable than recently, with dense clouds. The first rain showers will arrive from the east early in the morning, bringing large amounts of precipitation to certain places. As the day progresses, large parts of Lower Austria will be affected. There will also be brief thunderstorms in some places. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from the southeast to the west. Early temperatures range from 8 to 13 degrees, and daytime highs are mostly only 12 to 18 degrees.

Burgenland: With compact cloud fields, widespread rain showers from the morning onwards, which may be locally heavy, and embedded thunderstorms are possible. The wind will be weak to moderate, initially from the east and later from the north. Early temperatures range from 9 to 13 degrees, with daytime highs barely above 14 to 18 degrees.
Styria: A low over the Adriatic Sea will bring us cloudy, wet, and cool weather on Friday. It will rain on and off with plenty of clouds, with isolated thunderstorms possible in the east and south in the afternoon. The wind will shift to the northwest, and the temperature will drop. Early temperatures are 6 to 11 degrees; daily highs are 12 degrees in the Enns Valley, 14 degrees in the Mur and Mürztal valleys, and 16 degrees in the foothills.

Carinthia: Friday will start primarily cloudy across Carinthia, with a few rain showers. The showers will soon shift their focus to Central and Lower Carinthia. It will be mostly dry in Upper Carinthia in the afternoon, especially in the Tauern region. There may even be a brief clearing with a light, northerly wind. In the southeast, on the other hand, rain showers will last the longest, and some will be somewhat heavier. Highs will be between 13 and 17 degrees.

Upper Austria: Friday will start with heavy rain showers in the west and south. Otherwise, it will often remain dry. During the day, however, rain showers will spread everywhere, and in the afternoon, more rain showers may spread with the easterly current. Cooler and sometimes brisk westerly winds (peaks of 40 to 50 km/h) will dominate near the ground. Only a little sunshine is possible in the afternoon, and clouds will dominate primarily. Early temperatures: 6 to 12 degrees; highs: 11 to 16 degrees.

Salzburg: Friday will be changeable and much more relaxed, with repeated rain showers during the day. These will be heavy in Flachgau and Tennengau from the start but will gradually weaken by midday. The snow line will be between 1500 and 1700 meters. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from west to north-west during the day in Flachgau, with peaks of 40 to 50 km/h. The sun will only come through occasionally in the afternoon. Early temperatures are 5 to 11 degrees, and highs are 10 to 15 degrees, which is significantly cooler than recently.

Tyrol: In North Tyrol, the sky will remain cloudy and overcast all day, with light rain and moderate rain in the lowlands. It will snow at medium altitudes, from 1500 to 1900 meters. In the afternoon, the rain will ease from the west, and there will be a few clear spells around the upper Inn Valley. In East Tyrol, a moderate Tauern wind will dry the air. In North Tyrol, it will be noticeably cooler than it was recently. Lows: 4 to 9 degrees, highs: 11 to 16 degrees.

Vorarlberg: Clouds will dominate from night until midday, drizzling at times, with snow falling at medium altitudes above 1500 meters. Subsequently, the rain will become weaker and take longer and longer breaks. The clouds will begin to clear in the northern parts of the country. It will be noticeably cooler than it was recently. Lows: 4 to 9 degrees, highs: 10 to 15 degrees.
